Quick Eligibility Test

The Small Business Pension Program isn't appropriate for everyone. Here's a quick test to find out if it may be appropriate for your client.

Does your client meet all of the following criteria?

		Is your client 45 years of age or older?

		Does your client typically earn at least $75,000 annually in one of these ways?
		Owns a business with five or fewer permanent employees, including the owner Is self-employed as primary means of earning a living Has a second occupation in which client works for himself or herself Is considered an Independent Contractor rather than an employee

		Does your client want to contribute more than $44,000 annually to his/her retirement plan?

		Can your client commit to making that larger contribution annually for a minimum of three years?

Note: S-Corps and LLCs taxed as S-Corps
Only compensation that appears on the client's W-2 counts as Client Income for purposes of determining the client's contribution. For example, if a client receives his or her entire income as dividends from an S-Corporation, the client will not qualify to contribute to a retirement plan.
